Bulgaria’s and Romania’s accession to the European Union
On 1 January 2007, Bulgaria and Romania joined the European Union.
To celebrate this important fact, the European Commission organised a
popular event hosted by President José Manuel Barroso and Enlargement
Commissioner Olli Rehn which took place in Brussels on 14th December
in the presence of the President of Romania and the Prime Minister of
Bulgaria.
