« L´Institut Français des Relations internationales » est-il français ou non ?

En tout cas, la plupart des conférences se fait en anglais y inclus les invitations, y inclus, aussi, lorsque les conférenciers sont Français et tout cela au cœur des institutions européennes que nous critiquons pour leurs discriminations linguistiques. La France a, apparemment, renoncé à jouer son rôle à plein titre.

Probablement les Fondations allemandes et italiennes font la même chose, ce qui rend notre tâche beaucoup plus difficile.

Il faudrait, peut-être, que notre action commence par là : sensibiliser nos propres pays et leurs émanations au respect de notre identité, par l´affirmation de notre langue et de notre culture, au sein des institutions européennes et aux alentours.

One year after the EU enlargement, Eur-Ifri, the new European branch of the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI) based in Brussels, is organising in collaboration with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), a conference on "Enlargement and Globalisation: Location and Competitiveness of Firms in Europe" to be held at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels on 17 June 2005.

During the course of this one-day event, decision makers from the private sector, international experts, and officials from the European Commission will discuss the impact of enlargement on the competitiveness of European firms in the context of increasing global competition. The conference will draw on general contributions and sector analyses to discuss the conditions under which enlargement can represent an opportunity to strengthen firms´ competitiveness and take advantage of the economic dynamism of the new members.

Session one starts with an overview of the impact of enlargement on the location of firms in Europe, based on general data and more detailed information from sectors and companies. Sessions two and three discuss firms´ strategies with industrialists in the automobile and ICT sectors respectively. The concluding session will discuss policy issues in relation with the evolution of the location of production in Europe .
